Text Box: 19 February 2009: The Maverick club hockey team’s season has come to end. The Mavericks finished strong with a WCCHA championship and with a solid overall record of 17-5-1. The Mavericks were also mentioned in the final rankings but it just wasn’t enough to get them a bid to the regional tournament held in Chicago, IL. Everyone on the team contributed to the team’s success and you can check out the statistics on the “Stats” link. The team would like to thank all our sponsors, fans and people who supported us throughout the season. The Mavericks would also like to announce Tony Beringer as the club’s new president! Tony is currently a junior here at Mankato and has played with the club team for two years. If you have any questions about club hockey in general or joining the club, please contact Tony at anthony.beringer@mnsu.edu. 11 January 2009: The Maverick club hockey team starts the second half of the season with a record of 10-3-1. They look to improve their record against the 10th ranked Missouri State Maroon team in a series that will be held in Springfield, MO the weekend of January 15th and 16th. The Mavericks will be adding some players and look to their veterans Mike Franks, Tony Beringer and Brad Yetzer to lead the team to an undefeated second half. If you are interested in playing the second half of the season, please notify Nathan Ries at nathan.ries@mnsu.edu and come to practice Monday, January 12th at ASA for a mini-tryout. 23 November 2008: The Mavericks have improved their record to 8-3-1!! The team just got home from a four game, two weekend away stint against Mich Tech and ACHA Division 1 team NDSU, respectively. Although bruised and battered, the team managed to dominate play in all match-ups. Defensemen Brad Yetzer added 5 points over the last two weekends and goaltending has remained solid from both tendy’s, Tony Beringer and Sean Bloomfield .
